CAFÉS VARIETAIS ORFEU

ORFEU SINGLE-ORIGIN COFFEES

Discover the unique nature of each bean.

A varietal coffee is one that comes from a single variety of coffee bean, maintaining its own sensory specificities. Currently, Orfeu offers the Bourbon Amarelo, Arara, Acauã, Catucaí, and Japy varieties in its Varietals line. Each results in a unique and often more complex experience compared to blend coffees, which are a mixture of different varieties.

With more than 30 high-quality varieties cultivated on its farms, Orfeu is able to maintain a constant dynamic of innovation, always bringing new products to the line.

Sensory Differences: Varietal vs. Blend

The sensory differences between a varietal coffee and a blend coffee are notable. While blends offer a balanced flavor profile, varietal coffees offer a palette of flavors that vary widely according to the plant variety and cultivated terroir.

A varietal coffee can present fruity, floral, chocolate, or spicy notes, with a bright acidity or a full body, depending on its origin. Blended coffees, on the other hand, being a combination of several varieties, tend to have a more uniform and less pronounced flavor, focusing on creating a profile that appeals to a larger group of consumers.

Origin of coffee and the consumption of blends

Centuries ago, the first varieties were cultivated in Ethiopia. Over time and with the expansion of cultivation to other parts of the world, different varieties gradually mixed, resulting in the blends known today. This process occurred, in part, due to the need to create consistent and pleasant flavors for consumption. Thus, the culture of coffee blends strengthened, leaving aside varietal coffees which, although less common, are true treasures for those seeking a unique sensory coffee experience.
