Made of glass and metal, the French Press does not require a paper filter or electricity, and it adds charm when preparing your coffee. The press is a metal plate with a spaced mesh that acts as a filter, which is why a coarse grind is recommended for this preparation method. The difference with this filter is that, since it is not made of paper, the essential oils from the bean pass into the water, resulting in a fuller-bodied coffee.
In other countries, it may be called a Cafetiere (UK), Press Pot, Cafetière à Piston, Coffee Plunger or French Press, but its operation is similar worldwide. The name French Press gained popularity worldwide when the utensil became very popular in French kitchens and cafes.
