APRENDA A FAZER CAFÉ NA CHEMEX

LEARN HOW TO MAKE COFFEE IN A CHEMEX

The curves of its design and its efficiency in extracting the best from coffee have made the Chemex an icon not only for coffee lovers but for art admirers as well.
Designed in New York by a German chemist, the Chemex patent was registered in 1941 by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm. Among his 300 officially registered inventions, the brewing method remains modern despite its 75 years. A timeless work of art to make your coffee time more delicious and stylish!
The Chemex is so successful that it remains on permanent display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Made of fine glass, its curves resemble an hourglass whose design extracts the best from coffee. For brewing, a unique paper filter is used. It is round and, by folding, offers triple filtration on one side, leaving the cup free of grounds. Its wooden collar protects hands from heat and also gives it an air of sophistication.
Despite being an older utensil, the Chemex only gained popularity in Brazil with the rise of Specialty coffees, which is to say, about 20 years ago. In other countries, it has been known for a long time and has even been used in movies and TV series. An example of this is the series Friends, which, in addition to having Central Park as the setting for many emblematic scenes, also used the Chemex in an episode.
Here we will teach you how to prepare a delicious coffee in the Chemex!

Ingredients:
30g of whole bean roasted Orfeu Coffee (Orfeu Tip: if you don't have a scale at home, use three very full tablespoons)
300ml of hot water

Utensils:
1 Chemex
1 Chemex filter
1 Grinder (can be electric or manual)

Preparation Time: 3 to 4 minutes

Servings: 1 mug or 2 cups

If you don't have a grinder, you can buy roasted and ground coffee for chemex.

Method of preparation:
1. Grind the whole bean roasted Orfeu coffee.
Orfeu Tip: The grind should be medium or coarse for this brewing method, resembling granulated sugar.
2. Heat the filtered water to 95ºC.
Orfeu Tip: The ideal temperature is when bubbles appear in the water.
3. Fold the filter and place it in the Chemex. Then, rinse the entire filter container and discard the water afterward.
4. Add the ground coffee and pre-infuse, i.e., add a little water to hydrate the grounds and wait 30 seconds.
5. Gradually add the remaining water in circular motions.
Orfeu Tip: Remember that all the coffee grounds must come into contact with the water.

Now just serve and enjoy!
