The Low-Caffeine Microlot
Orfeu's farms currently have 28 varieties of coffee planted and are always looking to improve their portfolio. As mentioned in the Confraria episode, in addition to large-scale coffee plantations, there are Collections, which are spaces where professionals study and research the development and quality of varieties that are not yet widespread in the market.
Among the varieties in the Collections are Siriema and Laurina, which were chosen for the Confraria's Low-Caffeine Microlot. Analysis of its composition identified 0.95% caffeine. For comparison, Specialty Coffees have approximately 1.2% caffeine and Decaffeinated coffee has 0.09% to 0.1%.
Planted in a Podzolic soil on Orfeu's farms, the Microlot has a balanced body and medium intensity. With a light roast, it presents bright and citrus acidity, and notes of honeycomb, cocoa, cashew nuts, and almonds.
