Cold Brew is a preparation method where ground coffee is infused in cold water for at least 12 hours instead of being extracted with hot water, as in traditional coffee. This process results in an iced coffee with a smoother and less acidic taste, ideal for those who want naturally sweetened iced coffee.

How to prepare your Cold Brew with Orfeu

Preparing Cold Brew at home is simple. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your drink with Orfeu's special beans:

  • Choose your favorite Orfeu: Orfeu's beans have aromatic notes that stand out and are great for the cold infusion process, providing a balanced, flavorful drink perfectly adapted to the Cold Brew method.
  • Grind: Grind the beans to a coarse consistency, similar to cracked wheat for kibbeh, to ensure proper extraction and prevent sediment formation.
  • Ratio: The ideal ratio for Cold Brew is 10g of coffee per 100ml of water. But feel free to choose your preferred ratio, as explained in the tips below*.
  • Infusion: Mix the ground coffee with water (room temperature) in a French Press. At this point, do not press the plunger down. Close tightly and leave in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
  • Filtration: After the infusion time, press down the plunger of the French Press and strain the mixture.
  • Taste: Serve your Cold Brew pure or with ice, and enjoy the smoothness and purity of the flavors.

Here are some tips to enhance your Cold Brew experience:

  1. Different varieties of Orfeu: Experiment with the Blends and Varietals that Orfeu offers and discover different flavor profiles. Each bean brings a unique nuance, resulting in an extraordinary coffee.
  2. Adjust the ratio to your taste: The ratio can be adjusted according to your preferred intensity, for example: for a less concentrated coffee, use 8g of coffee for every 100ml of water. For a more full-bodied coffee, use 12g for every 100ml of water.
