MICROLOTE NIEMEYER

NIEMEYER MICROLOT

A blend of two varieties planted around the chapel designed by the architect on one of Orfeu's farms offers a curve in taste and in the rush of daily life.

A rare volcanic soil, in the high mountains of Mogiana Paulista, is the stage for the Oscar Niemeyer Special Edition, which flows between nature and man. In a curve, it calms the speed of life that insists on seeking straight lines.

This Microlot originates at Orfeu's Fazenda Rainha, near the Santa Clara Chapel, one of Oscar Niemeyer's last works. A gift given by the architect to the employees who wished for a place to pray. Inaugurated in 2008, between Mogiana Paulista and Southern Minas, on volcanic podzolic soil, the chapel is surrounded by olive trees and Arabica coffee crops that reach 1570 meters of altitude and are hand-harvested.

From four plots of these plantations, the Niemeyer Special Edition is composed. The blend of Bourbon Amarelo and Arara beans, roasted with precision and smoothness, projects sweetness and acidity. It expresses pineapple, peanut, dulce de leche, silk, and vigor. It exudes complexity.

Like the organic and fluid curves of Niemeyer's works, each sip is a sensory journey – it zigzags with the taste buds, refers to the architect's genius, deviates from such a rushed life. And yes, it inspires creativity.

Appreciating a work of art, just like drinking good coffee, awakens our emotions and changes our perspectives. For more than 100 of his 105 years of life, Niemeyer resorted to both. Daily. Like his strokes, a cup was a break from the straightness of everyday life.

If, in the mouth, the intense sweetness of the blend in his honor plays seesaw with the vibrant citrus acidity, until it gets there, the drink reinforces the beneficial impacts of responsible choices. Certified with the Rainforest Alliance seal, it relies on the three pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental.

The result of the collective action of people and a privileged terroir, or "a permanent message of grace and poetry," as Niemeyer would say, the microlot echoes the voice of the countryside and the contours of the artist within each of the four packages produced. About them, a little word: guided by the architect's constructions, they exhibit curvilinear contours and reflect "the desire to discover new forms." They accommodate 250 grams of roasted coffee beans or ground coffee, 10 drip coffee sachets, or 10 espresso capsules (compatible with Nespresso® machines).

With this Limited Edition, Orfeu infuses talent, technology, and art; values and promotes what Brazil has best and reaffirms its purpose of establishing a new level of coffee excellence in Brazil, offering Brazilians one of the best coffees in the world. Furthermore, it translates Oscar's universe into cups designed by Artificial Intelligence, together with Niemeyer and Design specialists. Finally, it wants to awaken in Brazilians pride in coffee, just as Niemeyer did with architecture.

The Oscar Niemeyer Special Edition is a curve in such a straight and rushed life. It may not be the fastest way between two points – sometimes it asks to slow down, sometimes it invites to contemplate the landscape. In the end, however, it is usually more beautiful.

Sales begin on April 3rd, along with the opening of SP-Arte. There, in the Bienal Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, Orfeu will be present with its modernist cafeteria, in Niemeyer's style.
