This month, we are sharing an initiative that goes beyond the cup: the “Change the Climate, start with Follow The Frog” campaign, led by the Rainforest Alliance. The campaign invites us to reflect on how we can engage more positively with sustainability, reinforcing the benefits of traceability and good practices at every stage from production to consumption.
This is an opportunity not only to disseminate sustainability initiatives but also to represent them visually on an interactive map of acquisition and impact, and to highlight how social and environmental actions affect and improve everyone's lives.
Sustainability in Every Grain and Crop
Orfeu not only produces excellent coffees but also implements responsible agricultural practices to preserve the environment and support its communities. Since 2018, Orfeu coffees have been certified by the Rainforest Alliance, an achievement that now extends to olive oil production, making it the first certified olive oil farm in the world.
For over 35 years, the Rainforest Alliance emerged from the need to protect and conserve tropical forests essential for life on the planet. With a mission that involves defending human rights, nature-based climate solutions, and supporting rural and forest communities, its certification reflects a commitment to ensuring that products with the Rainforest Alliance seal follow responsible and sustainable practices.

- Traceability: Complete traceability at every stage, promoting environmental and social responsibility.
- Preservation of Natural Areas and Ecosystems: At Orfeu farms, over 30% of the areas are preserved.
- Use of Solar Energy in Production: With the free energy market, there is a saving of up to 20% of the total compared to conventional hydroelectric energy.
- Soil Management: Soil care, using physical and chemical analyses to nourish coffee plants sustainably.
- Waste Management: Selective collection in partnership with local cooperatives for sustainable waste disposal.
- Technological Management of Irrigation and Water Resources: State-of-the-art technology for efficient irrigation, saving resources and protecting the environment.
- Composting and Circular Economy: Swine farming waste and organic materials are transformed into rich compounds, synthetic fertilizers.
- Employee Care: Over 120 employee families currently live on the farms. All Orfeu employees have formal contracts and health insurance.
