PROGRAMA DE CERTIFICAÇÕES ORFEU

ORFEU CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

It's time to expand our purpose.
ORFEU was founded in 2005 with the purpose of setting a new standard of quality excellence in Brazilian coffees, producing and providing Brazilians with one of the best coffees in the world. This is our guiding principle.

Throughout this journey, we have confirmed our belief that all the care dedicated to people, the environment, and the production process, from seed to cup, is directly reflected in the quality of our coffees. This is the secret to the success behind the brand's significant growth in recent years.

Firm in our purpose and faithful to our beliefs, we have been studying ways to take Orfeu further and further, allowing more and more people to access the experience of consuming our coffees.

From these studies, the Orfeu Certification Program was born, a project that enables the acceleration of our production growth through the creation of a green coffee supply network that extends beyond the borders of our farms. It develops small surrounding producers, raising their quality standards and establishing environmentally sound practices and responsible people management.

Very carefully, we have established quality assessment tools and processes based on four pillars: Management, Agricultural Practices, Social Responsibility, and Environment. For each of these pillars, there are several criteria that will guide us in selecting and maintaining partner suppliers, ensuring Orfeu's very high standard of quality.

See below some examples of criteria, by pillar:

• Management: absence of disputes over land use with local communities; compliance with applicable local laws; existence of a procedure for submitting and handling complaints by workers, buyers, suppliers, and other involved parties.

• Agricultural practices: analysis of the quality of water used for irrigation and its efficient use; agrochemicals used must be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, and those classified in the "red" range cannot be used at any stage of production; presence of an updated and complete list of fertilizers and pesticides that can be used and stored; record of all fertilizer and agrochemical applications, detailing quantity and period.

• Social responsibility: guarantee that there is no forced labor, trafficking, or other involuntary type at any stage of production and processing; school-aged children living on the premises attend school; workers can form and join worker organizations, both internal and external; working hours do not exceed 44 hours per week; respect for national legislation on social security contributions and paid holidays; workers must receive at least the minimum wage, whichever is higher between the national and regional minimum wage.

• Environment: zero tolerance for illegal deforestation; endangered and threatened species in the production area are identified, communicated to workers, and protected; control for efficient water use in production and processing; use of measures to increase energy efficiency; waste must be stored and disposed of only in designated areas, with non-hazardous waste reused or recycled whenever possible and organic waste used as fertilizer.
Currently, farms certified by the Program are located in Southern Minas Gerais, Northern São Paulo, and the Cerrado region.

We are very happy and motivated by the birth of the Orfeu Certification Program, not only because of the imminent increase in our production capacity in a sustainable way and the consequent development of small partner producers, but also because of the opportunity that opens up for us to develop new specialty coffees from the most diverse and spectacular Terroirs present in different regions of Brazil.

Join us in celebrating this incredible moment for Orfeu.
